Changing Geopolitical Conditions and Data Centre Power Resiliency

Strengthening Reliability in an Uncertain World

The following outlines the measures we and our infrastructure partner, Lumen, take together to ensure power resiliency across vXtream’s principal data centre and Network Operations Centre (NOC), in light of evolving geopolitical and cyber security risks.

We jointly prioritise the reliability and durability of our infrastructure through continuous improvements, maintenance, and testing of redundant power systems. In the event of a power-related incident, we have comprehensive response plans in place—designed to prevent or minimise service disruption—that are regularly rehearsed under controlled conditions and proven effective in real-world scenarios where power grids have been impacted for extended periods.

Through this partnership, both vXtream and Lumen work closely to uphold SLAs and ensure that our customers continue to receive uninterrupted service, even in the most challenging circumstances.

  • A Critical infrastructure team dedicated to power and HVAC is in place.
  • Site infrastructure is being hardened in preparation for their generators to run for longer periods with no dependence on commercial power.
  • There is regular routine testing on all power infrastructure to test resilience.
  • Generator fuel levels are regularly checked and increased to 100% capacity.
  • As standard, a minimum 4-hour battery reserve is maintained.
  • All power infrastructure is subject to scheduled maintenance in line with the manufacturer’s recommendations.
  • There is 24/7 access to mobile/temporary generators as required.
  • There are arrangements in place with local, regional, and national fuel and generator vendors with 24/7 availability.
  • As a critical infrastructure provider, our Partner works closely with the UK Government body, The Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport, which during a time of crisis can facilitate the prioritisation of items such as generator fuel.
  • Our Partner is an active member of the UK’s Electronic Communications Resilience & Response Group (EC-RRG)
